The island of Rügen can be reached by car from the direction of Hamburg on the A20. Coming from Berlin take the A19, the A20 and B105 or the B96 - always in the direction of Stralsund.
From Stralsund Rügen is signposted. The route takes you to the B96 via the new Rügen bridge and then turn shortly before Bergen turn right onto the B196 to Sellin. The touristic delightful route is the car ferry from Stahlbrode and then via Garz, Putbus and Lancken Granitz to Sellin.
Take the Deutsche Bahn trains to Binz and get on the historic narrow-gauge railway - the "Rasender Roland" - which takes you over a scenic route through the Granitz directly to Sellin, or you can board a bus or taxi in Binz.
